UNESCO has separately listed the traditional Comorian taarab-influenced music and the Anda wedding ceremonies as elements worth safeguarding as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity — a recognition that doesn't require a physical site nomination.

With no formal World Heritage infrastructure — no visitor centers, no official ticketing, no interpretive signage — visiting these sites means arriving with your own context rather than relying on the site to provide it.
